SPECIAL GUESTS
Samuel Odai Mensah, masterdrummer from Ghana
We were very fortunate to previously welcome artists from Ghana at our Penguin Camps – Mrs Francisca Aku Donyouh (dancer) and Mr. Samuel Odai Mensah (drummer). In the past we had the pleasure of experiencing dance and drumming shows with Samuel Odai Mensah and seeing children master African rhythms in small workshops as part of our Penguin Camp. His brilliant way with children and vast experience in working with them never fails to inspire and motivate the kids and young teenagers to release their inner drummer, always while speaking English.
Dellamy Miller, Musical-Actress and performer from California:
„There are different types of learners, and different styles to teach these groups. In the typical English lesson the auditory and visual learners needs are met, however the tactile and kinesthetic learners are passed over. Through the use of acrobatics, spacial, movement and improvisational games children will be able to use their whole bodies to feel their way through the English language.
The acrobatic camp will offer children the chance to build strength and confidence in their bodies, in team work and in the second language. In the mornings we will use call and response warm up games to prepare ourselves for an afternoon of developing new individual and team stunts (Cartwheels, Handstands, headstands, Flying and Pyramids) which we will then put together in a musical and theatrical presentation based on a chosen theme to present to the parents at the end of the week. Afternoons we will also play outdoor games and work on our journals, which will present reflections of the weeks experiences.“
